Product description
An intelligent ice and snow detector for the automatic control of electrical snow-melting and frost-protection systems. Thanks to the combination of temperature and moisture measurement, the system only heats when there is an actual risk of ice or snow formation. This keeps driveways, roads, footpaths, stairs, roofs and gutters safely accessible, while keeping energy consumption to a minimum.
The controller features a clear touchscreen display that allows settings to be easily adjusted. The system continuously monitors the connected sensor, heating output and internal functions. Any faults are reported immediately via the integrated alarm management. In addition, this controller can be expanded with internet or Modbus communication for integration into building management systems and remote monitoring.
An important advantage of this snow detector is its modular design. The device can function independently for a single heating circuit, but also forms the basis for larger installations with multiple detection and heating zones.
Product application
The Tekmar 1873-ESM has been developed for applications where ice and snow formation must be prevented automatically, such as:
- Slipways and car parks
- Driveways and access roads
- Pavements and footpaths
- Stairs and entrances
- Roofs and gutters
- Loading and unloading bays
- Industrial outdoor locations
Through the precise measurement of both moisture and temperature, the heating system is activated only when conditions require it. This results in a safe environment and lower energy costs.
Expandability with additional heating channels
For larger projects, this snow controller can be expanded with an expansion module. Each individual expansion module adds one extra ice detection and heating channel to the system. An existing installation can be expanded with the expansion channels to a maximum of eight separate heating circuits and sensors.
All connected expansion modules are centrally managed via the controller's touchscreen. In addition, the various heating circuits can be accommodated in up to four zones with their own settings, weekly programmes and pre-heating functions. This makes the system suitable for both small installations and complex infrastructure projects.
