Product description
The frost thermostat (FVC) is a fully automatic temperature controller specially designed for the energy-efficient switching on of heating tapes and heating cables when frost threatens. The switch is simply placed between the heating tape and the socket, and only switches on the heating when it is truly necessary.
Thanks to the external temperature sensor, the frost thermostat accurately detects when the ambient temperature drops to +3 °C. As soon as the temperature rises again to +5 °C, it automatically switches off the power. A built-in switch-off delay of approx. 60 minutes prevents unnecessary switching during rapid temperature fluctuations and ensures reliable frost protection.
The integrated LED ring provides immediate visual control of the operation: green when mains voltage is present and red when the trace heating cable is active. Setting up is not necessary; operation is fully automatic.
Product application
The frost thermostat is ideal for applications where pipes or installations need to be protected against freezing:
- Automatic switching of trace heating cables and heating cables
- Frost protection for water pipes, stop valves and external piping
- Turning on an electric frost heater in, for example, a chalet or holiday home
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor use thanks to its splash-proof design
The external sensor (3 m cable) can be placed directly on or near the pipe to be protected, preferably under the insulation for optimal measurement. Due to the fixed switching temperatures, the trace heating cable does not consume power at safe temperatures.
