With this thermostat, a heating cable switches on automatically when the measured temperature is lower than the set value. In general, a switch-on temperature of +3 to +5 °C is desired for keeping pipes frost-free. (At higher temperatures, the heating tape will therefore not consume power.) The display of the plug-in thermostat shows the set temperature. As soon as it gets colder in the room, mains voltage will be applied to the output. The plugged-in heating tape or heating wire is then activated and starts heating. At that moment, the actual (measured) temperature appears on the display.
You can only use this plug-in thermostat if the heating cable (or another form of electric heating) is located in a dry room. For example, useful for keeping water pipes in the garage free from frost, with a minimum of power consumption and without the risk of forgetting to plug it in on time. Other applications: switching on auxiliary heating, such as a fan heater, in a caravan, boat or other unheated space. Tip: the operation is very simple and by experimenting for a moment with a bedside lamp, you will quickly understand how it works! Please note: this thermostat is not suitable for a damp room, such as a stable. For that, choose a frost switch.
